What is the The Dazzle?
The Dazzle is the Holidazzle Committee’s commitment to Putting People First in our fundraising for DFRC in 2009.
Why support The Dazzle?
The Holidazzle Committee has come
to you each year and asked for your support to help us carry out DFRC’s
mission - whether it be through a fashion show, a play, a comedy show
or in recent years, a stay-at-home event. This year we had an event
planned for you, but as our mission states, we Put People First.
After much thought and consideration of you, our loyal supporters, we
have decided that in this environment, it is difficult to justify the
expense of producing such an event, and we are presenting The Dazzle as our fundraiser for 2009.
To make a gift to Team Wren, just click on the button above the thermometer that says "Support Team Wren!" Then enter your gift information, and you will be immediately provided with your tax receipt.
We hope we can count on your support. We need caring people like you to sponsor our team’s fundraising effort for The Dazzle.
Why are we participating in The Dazzle?
DFRC's Holidazzle volunteers feel the same financial pressures that you, your family, and friends are feeling in this very difficult economic environment our country finds itself in. Our mission has always been to Put People First. To raise awareness and acceptance that those with intellectual disabilities are in fact, a person first, a person full of promise and possibility that given opportunity can achieve rewarding and fulfilling lives. Our mission also is to raise money to help those people with intellectual disabilities realize their full potential by providing seed money for educational and vocational programs in Delaware.
So while we will miss seeing you again this year, we are asking for your continued, steadfast support for those we aim to help recognizing that your capacity to give this year may be impacted by this economy. We hope you will consider all the great work that DFRC does in our community for those living with intellectual disabilities – because in fact, they need our help more than ever! DFRC has seen its grant requests more than double over the past two years and have responded by distributing the highest amount of funding in the foundation’s 50-year history. We see this trend continuing as the numbers of grant requests received this fiscal year continues to rise. Be assured that by curtailing this year’s event, every dollar raised by you will go directly to those individuals we put first.
Please know that event or non-event, nothing is more important to DFRC and the people we support than you, our loyal and generous donors! During these difficult financial times, we need and appreciate you more than you can imagine.
Thanks again for your support! - Laurie O'Sullivan-Wren
